Aside from competing for a state championship team, earning all-state honors as an individual is about as impressive an accomplishment as a high school athlete can achieve. Chesterton had six athletes named all-state.
Senior Luke Sorgic was a first-team all-state selection in tennis. Offensive lineman Carlos Leon was named to the senior all-state team in football, and placekicker Mace Redmond and hybrid linebacker/defensive end Zane Westerlund were named to the junior all-state all-star team.
Hard-hitting junior Luca Bombacino was named second-team all-state by volleyball coaches. Soccer magician Adey Avey also earned second-team all-state honors.
Leon earned junior all-state honors in 2024, when he played center for the Trojans. He played primarily as a guard during his award-winning senior year.
